Dr.P.Madeswaran Scientist F, marine biologist and presently working as Scientist at Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management - Project Directorate (ICMAM-PD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Chennai. He has twenty-five years of experience and expertise in handling multidisciplinary R&D programmes in the areas of environment and resources assessment, policy development and multilateral agreements at the national, regional (South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme) and global levels (Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources). During April 1989, he joined as a Research Assistant in Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi and was promoted to Research Officer in 1993. In 1994, he joined as Senior Scientific Officer at Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), erstwhile called “Department of Ocean Development (DOD)” and associated in implementation of various nationally coordinated research programmes, viz., (i) Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction System (COMAPS); (ii) Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management (ICMAM); (iii) Assessment of Marine Living Resources (MLR); and (iv) Development of potential drugs from ocean (Drugs from sea). He was the Director at the Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE), Kochi, before joining ICMAM-PD. He has provided intellectual leadership for successful implementation of R&D activities in the field of marine sciences
Dr.R.S.Kankara Scientist F, Specialised in mathematical modelling and GIS applications for coastal/nearshore hydrodynamics, sediment transport, coastal vulnerability assessment (tsunami, Storm Surges, Oil Spill, Erosion etc) and preparation of Integrated Coastal Zone/ Shoreline/ Oil Spill Management Plans. He joined in Government service as Research Assistant during March 1993 and presently head of Coastal Processes & Shoreline Management related activities of ICMAM.
